How to maximise ticket sales this Christmas
Your Christmas events calendar is probably already in full swing – but is your attendance in full swing? Are you at full capacity or has recent events perhaps effected the opinions of the general public – the repercussions falling on your attendance figures? Giving your prospective customers that confidence is key to ticket sales.
Plays, gigs, pantomimes, and sporting events are all being affected by the new Government announcements, warning of new variants and increased risk of infection. Hospitality is already 40% down on where it should be in December, and theatres have started to feel the impact as well. As many are prioritising relatives at Christmas, they are perhaps less confident in purchasing tickets.
A lot of businesses thrive at this time of year; some are even able to coast through the other 11 months on the back of what they’ve earned at Christmas. But we must also remember that Christmas is smack bang in the middle of winter. And winter, however prepared customers may be, has a habit of putting up boundaries to participation and attendance.
Snowdrifts and icy roads may look great in festive movies, but they’re not ideal driving conditions. And with more cars on the roads due to the risk of transmission on public transport, traffic and cancellations are all the more likely. Colds and flu have been somewhat worse after the pandemic, and a “likely tsunami” of COVID infections and other nasty bugs has been predicted.
Winter is peak season for household burglaries, vehicle failure, redundancy and unfortunately, mental illness. We are being realistic in the most wonderful time of the year, and these things need be taken into account. There are a multitude of reason why people may not be able to attend events
Which is why we’re keen for our partners to make the most of our fully integrated Booking Protect refund protection scheme.
Maintain confidence in customers through ticket protection
Where there is difficulty in customers attending events, there is also disappointment. Imagine you had pre-booked your holiday season full of events and parties, and it turned out you couldn’t attend any of them. It would not only leave you out of pocket, but you’d be less confident in your ticket purchases in the future.
Refund protection doesn’t solve the winter conundrum. It doesn’t warm the roads, prevent illness or stop criminals from breaking into properties. But it does give customers peace of mind. This peace of mind is often enough to tip the scales in favour of them going ahead with the purchase instead of saying “maybe next year”. Knowing they have that safety net and that all their money won’t be lost, customers are much more inclined to purchase from you.
Christmas is a time for new customers, it’s a chance for you to show off your venue and ensure that those visitors come back time and time again. You don’t want them to associate your name with disappointment. Refund protection will save their ticket costs as well as your customer base in case you have to cancel a show or gig.
