Dale is our IT technician and web developer at Booking Protect. He makes sure the website is always running at tip top shape. He enjoys a quiet, calm sit-down backgrounded by some heavy metal rock music and an intensive gardening session. We ask him about his best moments at Booking Protect and about the elements of the job he enjoys most.
What is your role at Booking Protect?
Web developer for the Booking Protect website.
What are the elements of your job you enjoy which others wouldn’t necessarily know about?
The problem solving aspect. It’s satisfying to figure out the solution to a problem, especially one that you and others have been stuck on for some time.
What is different at Booking Protect which you haven’t seen working anywhere else?
The consistency in the standard of work, it’s always top notch. Everyone works to the best of their ability and everyone delivers results. The standard is always high and it drives everyone to do better, which makes the company do better.
What’s the best festival or music event you’ve been to?
Bloodstock UK. Bloodstock is one of the UK’s largest outdoor heavy metal festivals. I’ve been a few times and will be going back.
And one you’d like to go to?
Electric Dance Carnival in Las Vegas.
What’s your favourite album?
Run the Jewels 3, by Run The Jewels.
Have you ever been on the stage? Proudest performance?
I have never been on stage unfortunately.
What’s your secret hobby?
Digital drawing. I’ve bought quite a bit of tech to do it with, and I’m learning how to get better at it.
What’s your best moment while working for Booking Protect?
Launching the new redesigned site. It’s great to see all our hard work come to fruition and become something useable and tangible.
If you were an instrument, what would you be and why?
Piano. Because of how it can fit into every song. It’s useful and, together or alone, sounds great.
What was your first job and how old were you?
I cleaned coaches when I was 15 for my cousin. It was a great indicator for what I really wanted to do.
Furthest place you’ve gone away from home? Why did you go?
Tunisia. I went on a family holiday.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
TV and animation. You could say I watch too much of it.
What was your favourite TV show 20 years ago?
Thundercats if I remember rightly.
Are you a big gardener?
I like to think I am. I can see it being a passion of mine in the future.
What’s something you can’t stand?
People with no manners. That’s not saying please and thank you, not holding the door, not eating properly; I can’t stand it.
What is your perfect Sunday?
Chilling out with friends or having a real lazy day. I’d have a lie in, then invite some friends round, we’d probably play some games and then get a takeaway for lunch and maybe go out to a nice restaurant for dinner. Then do some drawing on my tablet before bed.
If you could recommend one event that is a must-watch, what would it be?
I would recommend Bloodstock UK, it takes place August every year at Catton Hall. If you like Metal Music, its a must go.
