Matt is our Creative Artworker at Booking Protect. Always willing to lend a hand, Matt is super helpful and first to suggest a new project for the team. When he’s not at work he’s either streaming, creating videos or listening to his favourite Yorkshire rock bands. We ask Matt about his work with Booking Protect and about his interesting hobbies outside of work.
What is your role at Booking Protect?
I’m the Creative Artworker. I try to constantly push the creative boundaries of the brand to make Booking Protect look its absolute best.
What are the elements of your job you enjoy which others wouldn’t necessarily know about?
I love coming up with new creative concepts and seeing them come to life to be used in the form of printed and digital campaigns and materials for all to see.
What is different at Booking Protect which you haven’t seen working anywhere else?
As well as working hard, the team make sure to play hard. I’ve never worked at a place where the team members give their all during the day and then spend time together after work and enjoy their free time together. It really makes the place feel like home and that everyone is in the same boat.
Best festival or music event you’ve been to?
I’ve been to see the Arctic Monkeys live in concert. They were in Sheffield in 2018, it feels like yesterday.
One you’d like to go to?
AC/DC but they don’t tour often.
What’s your favourite album?
Arctic Monkeys and their album – Whatever people say I am that’s what I’m not.
Have you ever been on the stage? Proudest performance?
Yes, in Year 5 I performed a rendition of Grease as a T-bird. I smashed it. My family came to watch and said I was a natural.
What’s your secret hobby?
Gaming and streaming. I have a streaming channel which I do most nights. I enjoy playing with my community who I’ve built up over a couple of years.
Best moment while working for BP?
Developing and uploading the new website design and making it live. I take a lot of pride in that design and I’m happy to see it working well for the company.
If you were an instrument, what would you be and why?
I’d be an electric guitar because I like 80s music and rock music.
What was your first job and how old were you?
I worked in retail for a while. I was 17 when I started.
What’s the furthest place you’ve gone away from home?
Holland or Portugal.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
What was your favourite TV show 20 years ago?
Ed Edd ‘n’ Eddy.
Are you a big gardener?
No. I currently don’t have a garden but I like to build things and work with my hands. I’d build the garden shed and garage to store my classic car.
What’s something you can’t stand?
Traffic. It takes me twice the time to get into work.
What is your perfect Sunday?
A nice chill start, a lie in and breakfast in bed. Then a gym session followed by a cruise out in my classic Beetle. Then a proper Sunday roast with roast potatoes, chicken and beef, touch of garlic, and all the vegetables. Oh aye.
If you could recommend one event that is a must-watch, what is it?
Wrestlemania. There’s nothing like it. Or Queen in concert.
